She was given 2 weeks to live and lived 5 years after her initial surgery. I think goldens are definitely more prone to cancer than other dogs. You should have seen how many goldens were at the animal medical center due to cancer. I think it is faulty breeding or due to environmental factors. She ate high quality food and was very well cared for. She died last month and I miss her every day,but yes, I think goldens are suscepible to cancer. She was 12 years old. We bought her home to her final resting place. I am so lost right now. She gave unconditional love to me and my family. This is my second lad that has died of cancer. The vet stated that lads are proned to cancer, she said when the time is right for me. She recommended a lad mixed breed. To all pet owners that have lost a beloved best friend, part of the family, and your trusted oompanion. My heart goes out to you.
