IAMS Animal Cruelty FINALLY NOT Proved

The United States Department of Agriculture today released a statement about IAMS animal testing, according to, who else… PETA?
“The U.S. Department of Agriculture… released an official complaint stating that the contract laboratory investigated by PETA in 2002 and 2003… employed by … Iams, “has shown a lack of good faith.”
This is according to PETA. Yeah – I’m not a big fan of PETA AT ALL, but I used to think that they got the IAMS animal cruelty thing right WAY before anyone else did. I am not even giving them link juice here.
NO MORE CRAP from PETA will be taken.
This is reprehensible. I always knew IAMS was full of crap ever since they denied it from the beginning. And PETA does suck by the way.
I agree. PETA is not the nicest animal rights group around and they have done some pretty bad things but this shows that they really do care. I am saddened by the treatment of these animals.
This is really sad. I hope that IAMS will face some sort of penalty for this. Who knows how many animals have died in their hands. Just like PETA. Theyve killed thousands.

Interesting you should say that.. I was researching this elsewhere, and someone else mentioned they “worked for Iams” and said that Iams doesn’t do any testing at ALL. So for them to say that, and you to say this… So who’s telling the truth?
You shouldn’t be proud of working for any company thst could do these horrendous acts to an animal. Oh and I am sorry!
I have four young puppies, and they will never know what Iams tastes like. I agree with some of the things PETA does, but, Im never going to be a vegetarian. Tried it dont like it!!!
I do believe diferrent because my friends and family use another product.But next pets productsI may consider this pets productsthat you just present.Grate!!!
You posted this in 2008, but what about the facilities in 2008? This is old news, and has been addressed by changes made by IAMS as far as I am aware. If there is evidence this is still going on, I really want to know about it.

This is definitely OLD OLD news. IAMS has actually opened its facilities to the public to see their testing on animals. I was misinformed when I wrote this post, and have since written one rescinding this information.
IAMS/Eukanuba is now actually one of the most reputable food-testing centers.

Usually , at the holidays, having lost my Mom to emphysema 5 years ago . ( yes, due to her will TO SMOKE)! She got very sick in about 2000, but I lost her to a hospice/nursing home in about ’02. She passed away in September ’04 . I am an educated adult with a sick 19 yo boy , so you’d figure I have plenty to due .
However when I lost my mo , I lost my mind, my son lost his Mom, we lost our house ..& I spiraled down until I lost everything , including my very large Italian (unbreakable lol) family .
Well no doubt my son is/was affected by the losing of my mind & accountability .
We were driving past the WSPCA one day & my son insisted we venture into the pound , just to look, hmm. We were with a few of his friends & ended up staying at the shelter for hours , until about 5 minutes before it closed ! Well, when was the last time you walked into a “kill” shelter,& walked out alone ?
OK, here we go , while looking around , amongst the chaos we al see this BIG black w/ the most handsome markings doing a show for the entire glass blocked room with about 40 other dogs & about 20 other humans.
And there was Shane my beloved son @ age 15 , glued to the cage . OH boy , here we go . I ran to him understanding this dog was sly & knew he had a bite. Oh yes he did ! I tried to pry Shane’s cold white hands from Zeus’ block. but it wasn’t going to be that easy . Shane actually cried , we have the smallest most cluttered house in the world & I made this child leave in tears;promising to think about this commitment & if good we’d come back the next day & scoop him up .Shane cried all night .He actually was having a temper tantrum for 2 days. As the next day the shelter was closed ( this was the longest 2 days in my life ).So the next day I have no choice but to go back that evil (LOL) place & hope Zeus had found a loving home already , as he was not at all shy & was giving the entire room a free floor show, standing on his back legs, spinning in circles ..OY! This was not going as I had planned. Shane ran to the main desk & right away screamed he wanted Zeus ! & They grabbed their keys , reluctantly and opened Zeus’ cage and a leash handed him to Shane & off the flew …WOW! This guy was big & beautiful & very strong . Shane didn’t need to think about it .He was leaving the shelter with this big black dog & my mouth just hung open agape ! While we waited for the shelter keep to get Zeus’ paperwork & cut threw the tape of adoption , I stood & watched this big boy , with this even bigger dog . I was so nervous I got to giggling ! OMG! What have I done ?

Here come’s more tears , here Zeus is a BORDER COLLIE , pure breed, Zeus was involved in a court case & had spent the last 4 months of his young life in that glass cage . He was then 6 mo’s. old, with more than enough energy for a small 3rd world country ! We saw some of that , while we waited to be let down over his pending lawsuit .And more tears came. Shane’s heart was broken ! Me being the Mom that I am now wanted that crazy dog more than the pull of the universe after all they made my son cry . And I did mention in the beginning of my story that I was not quit right in my head !
I was about to pounce, then that cute trainer came out of the back , real slippery , looking very suspicious . Well he said , YOU GOT “EM ! That guy made things happen in the back & saved Zues’ life .
Zeus was reprocessed at the age of just 8 weeks old, when his owner came in with Zeus who was apparently in bad shape , undernourished , flea ridden & God know what else. The poor doctor said something derogatory to the owner & he whopped him in the face , leading her to prison & poor baby Zeus to get placed in the doggie system until the trial was over .

It was almost a week before Christmas, I was still wiping tears from my eyes everyday because I still was very sad about the loss of my own precious Mother .
We were about to receive a blessing we didn’t understand then , especially as they were warning of about the breed (Border Collie) the breed that is the very smartest breed in the world , capable of learning anything .Now he was part of our Family
I did not know at the time that I was very ill , soon to need a wheelchair, cane, lots of extra company & love .I have no family left except Shane who is about to leave for college. He is here wit us now doing is first 2 years of College here in Philadelphia ,as long as he can to stay , not to leave me alone .
We have had Zeus trained in many ways , he is now MY dog ! He doesn’t leave my side. Yes Shane handed him over once he saw that the dog & I are connected , my dog knows when I am very sick , or just sick enough not to leave my side. He stands besides me when I need to stand pushes him-self over as far as he can so I can grab his harness & he pulls me up right out of my chair .He is ideally my “EMO” dog !

This is the
story of a middle aged Mom, depressed all the time due to the loss of my own Mother & The onset of a severe incurable illness.And an innocent dog in lock up because his unsuitable owner “HIT” the Veterinarian of a shelter we just wandered into .
Yes this dog surely was Re-gifted ! Think about it Shane was the one
who cried until I cracked & said yes to rescuing a crazy but handsome Border Collie , a clown of a dog who saved my life.
BTW: Do to the lovely people at the ADA, Zeus enjoys 5 star Hotels, & the best Restaurants, as he is now my “working” dog . His pay is all the love he can handle . He is allowed to accompany me anywhere , on Labor Day this year 2010, the management insisted he go with us to the pool !
