This is a good idea. However, realistically, I doubt this will happen. Expecting 100% is a bit much. I think us animal lovers need to find a realistic way to make the most of this opportunity.

Maybe a smaller percentage to shelters or to public awareness of the situation. Or Maybe expecting Vick to be a sincere spokesperson (at the grass roots level) for Responsible Dog Ownership and the struggle against dog fighting.

Maybe some other way for Vick and the Eagles to be a benefit to our cause.

I agree, this is a GREAT idea. Shelters could do so much with that money and the Eagles could fix their public image issue that they now have… sort of… this is a good first step.

Hey, Jaime, Live anywhere near Akron? Know anyone who might be able to help Eric with the Lakemore cats — volunteer, donate or foster? I blogged about it the other day and will give an update tomorrow. He’s still got 30-some cats to find temp shelter/socialization help for as they are spay/neutered.

In one way I feel sorry for Vick because he can’t escape his past, but abusive people do not “heal” in prison, so I hate to see him being used as a youth idol.
