I was found as a stray near Eustis, Florida. I spent a month in doggy jail before I was found and taken in by Schnauzer Love Rescue! I had a great forster mom who really helped me. Than the Tuesday before Thanksgiving 2007 my new parents gave me a forever home!In Johns Creek Ga. I am so happy with them. Than on Thanksgiving day I met my mommy and daddy’s four grandchildren. WOW! I have a family. I have sooo much to be thankfull for!

  4. We found Daisy Mae on Craiglist! She was a Teacup Chiuhuahua. They said they were taking her to the pound because they were moving. We met the couple at a pet store by the highway and when they brought her in she looked horrible. She was so skinny her bones were showing and she acted like she had been abused. Then when the kids saw her they were like mom we want her. Well the couple new they had me then so they said that would be $50. I was like what? You were taking her to the pound. But you know what? I quickly pulled out the cash and sent them on their way. This poor dog needed to be taken away from this couple immediately. We took her home and she is now one pampered pooch. She sports around her Rhinestone collar! It has taken some time for her to adjust because of the way she was treated but she is doing fine now and lays with her sister by the fire every morning.
We would love to take this little pooch shopping she deserves it!

When I was just 3 weeks old, some really mean man dropped me and 2 other kitties out his car window on the freeway in 5 o’clock traffic. First one car stopped, then 2 others to see what it was. Every person took one kitty. My meowmy worked with one of the persons and she called my meowmy to see if she would take me. My meowmy took me home where there was another, older kitty. I was so very teeny, I fit into meowmy’s palm. It was very fun, waking meowmy up in the middle of the night because I was hungry. A few days later, meowmy took me to the vet to make sure I was OK. They said I was doing just fine; it appeared that I was getting plenty to eat. I liked to eat a lot. I was very lucky to have a big brother to help raise me. Wyatt made sure I was the cleanest kitty ever! When I got big enough, I could climb the stairs all by myself, after meowmy and Wyatt showed me how. I kept growing and growing and growing. I am now 14 and 20+ pounds, but I still like to have my bottle! Though meowmy only puts water in it now. I is one happy kitty.

My sweet kitty Aldo has an amazing rescue story! I found my Aldo through Catster.com, a wonderful Web site where you can make a page all about your kitty, and upload photos and diary entries. I had been a Catster member for about a year when I read a diary entry by a kitty named Hazel Lucy that a human Catster member had passed away.

Aldo was living a happy life in Florida with his kittysister Tess and his doggysister Noelle. Their mommy’s name was Laurel. A huge animal lover, Laurel loved all of her furkids a lot. One night in May 2008, Laurel went to sleep and didn’t wake up, and her beloved furkids were suddenly orphans. She didn’t have a will and had not made provisions for her furbabies in case anything happened to her. Because of this, her belongings–and her babies–fell into the hands of a relative who had no interest in them. Aldo and Tess escaped from the house in all the confusion, and Noelle the dog was taken to animal control. Enter the amazing Hazel Lucy and her mommy Julie. The instant that they discovered what had happened, they immediately took charge at “mission control” in Pennsylvania and the wheels began to turn–quickly. While Julie made hundreds of phone calls from her home and spent several sleepless nights discovering every detail she could dig up, a team consisting of Florida Catsters, one of Laurel’s oldest friends, and Margaret Martinroe of Kitty City/Homeless Hounds swung into action. Noelle was sprung from animal control and taken to a Dogster (sister Web site to Catster) member’s house for fostering; shortly thereafter, a new home was found for her in New Mexico. Using Margaret’s traps and super-stinky (irresistible!) cat food, Margaret and Laurel’s friend were able to trap Aldo, and Margaret took him to the vet to be cared for. The stress of it all caused a lot of little Aldo’s fur to fall out, and he rubbed a sore spot on his nose trying to get out of the trap before Margaret returned the next morning.

The neighborhood was searched day after day for Tess; everyone looked under bushes, around houses, in every conceivable spot that a kitty could hide, but Tess still has not been found. She may have been taken home by someone and we hope fervently that she is safe and loved. The search continues for her.

Aldo was fostered at the home of a Florida Catster member for a few weeks, where he rested and received lots of TLC. During it all, I had offered my home to Aldo; plans were made to fly him up here to Baltimore to join our family, but airline regulations for animals being rather random and odd, the first leg of Aldo’s journey–from Orlando to Atlanta–would have him in an air-conditioned cargo hold…but the second leg from Atlanta to Baltimore would not. He would be allowed to fly only if the temperature in both cities was 85 degrees or cooler at the time of takeoff. Well, we knew that it was going to be near 100 degrees in Baltimore that day, so that meant that poor Aldo might get stuck in Atlanta!!! That just couldn’t happen! So, plans were quickly changed to fly me down to meet Aldo and his short-term foster mommy in the Orlando airport, hop right back on another plane, and fly Aldo back in the cabin. WHEW!! Let me tell you, furpals, this was one heck of a rescue. The determination of everyone involved was unfailing and a true labor of love. Love can–and did–build a bridge, my friends!

  8. We decided to adopt a dog for my son. It was to be his dog and his responsibility. We did not have any pets and to be honest, my husband and I were not thrilled of the idea. But, we decided we would do it for our son. We made a list of qualities we were looking for and went searching for the perfect dog. We came up with rules that my son had to agree with before we would adopt one. Of course, my son would agree to anything to have a pet dog. After two months we found a dog. The foster mom had explained “Pinta” was rescued from a hoarder from Arkansas (we live in PA) and was chained outside to a cement pipe. She was then shipped to Tennessee to the Catahoula Rescue Group. Pinta would not let any human get near her and she was very scared. But, she was very sweet and fit our list of what we were looking for. It turns out the foster home was a 2 hour trip from our house. So we made plans to see if she liked us and we liked her. My husband and I took a day off work and my son took a “sick” day from school. As we were making the 2 hour trip on a very rainy day (passed a horrible accident on the way), my husband and I were asking each other “what are we doing”? My son who was oblivious to everything but getting a dog, was in the back seat excited as can be. We first saw Pinta sitting on a sofa, she was so nervous. My son sat right next to her. She was slowly trying to scoot away without anyone noticing her. We had to admit she was a doll. We took her home with us. On the way home we found out the hard way she gets car sick. We felt so bad for her and just wanted to make her happy. We get her home and the first thing she did was hop on my husband’s chair. We really did not want her on the furniture, but how can we say no after what she endured. In the next couple of days she had a couple of accidents on our new rug we just had installed 4 months ago. Again, we were questioning our decision about her. But when she looked at us with those “puppy eyes” we were lost. We have had Pinta for a year and a half now. Every rule we made before we adopted her flew right out the window. Pinta is the “Queen Bee” in our house. She did not turn out to be my son’s dog, but my husbands. She follows him everywhere, always giving him kisses and sitting on his lap. She goes on the furniture, sleeps in our bed, (she loves sleeping under the covers). She is such a lovable and playful dog, that we cannot believe we ever had doubts about adopting her. We were the kind of people who made fun of others when it came to the attention and things they would do for their pets. Now WE are those people. We get sad thinking if we would ever lose her. She is that important to us. As for my son, since he said dad took his pet he would like a cat for his own. Needless to say 2 weeks ago we adopted “Tiger”. Here we go again!!
