All American Pet Brands Announces Cutest Dog Competition
All American Pet Brands is launching its “Cutest Dog Competition” where dog owners have the chance to win $1 million dollars (!!!) by submitting a pic of their cute dog. Yes, you read that right: $1 million dollars.
From the press release:
All American Pet Company™, maker of super premium dog-food brands Bow Wow Breakfast™ Cereal and Grrr-nola™ Natural Dog Food, has partnered up with DOG.com, iBeatYou.com and PromotingGroup.com to present its first-ever Cutest Dog Competition. Starting August 1, 2009, every dog owner in America will have the opportunity to submit a picture of his or her pooch to show the world how cute it is. The finalists from these submissions will be given the chance to win the grand prize of $1 million. The deadline for submissions is October 23, 2009. Dog owners who wish to submit their photos for this competition should visit: www.cutestdogcompetition.com, follow the contest entry form and upload a digital photo of their pup. The contest is eligible to residents of the fifty United States and District of Columbia who own a dog and have online photo-uploading capabilities.
The contest will be judged by online public voting from the photo entrees submitted to the contest site. Twelve weekly semi-finalists will each win $500 in cash. From those 12 weekly winners, 4 finalists will be determined by the greatest number of public votes and will each receive $5000 in cash. A panel of judges will pick the nation’s Cutest Dog and award the grand prize of $1 million on Thanksgiving Day.
The Cutest Dog Competition is an extension of the Bow Wow Million Dollar Look-a-Like Contest. Previous entries will automatically be entered for a chance to win.
For the official rules or more information, visit the All American Pet website at www.aapbrands.com/.

Thanks for the news. Hadn’t heard about this contest.
This contest is a BIG scam… Be careful!!! All American Pet Brands owes a lot of people a lot of money. Beware!

This contest is a Scam my dog won week 11 and I have not received our $500 prize money either. Have been in contact with the other winners and they have not received theirs yet. We have left many voice mail messages, emails and still no response. When we do occassionaly get a response their is always an excuse that Joel the accounts coordinator is sick, out of the office or out of town. We were suppose to receive our payment according to the contest rules 1 week after Thanksgiving.
John,
You did not post your email but I would like to know how this all works out.
Please drop me a line at Funpupphoto@yahoo.com
Put something in the memo line about All American Pets so I will recognize you.
Thanks
Angel
To Anonymous,
If you are going to come to my blog and leave anonymous comments attacking an organization, I would encourage you to bring some factual evidence and proof of your allegations next time. Your comment has no merit without it.
Thanks,

I can only speak for myself.
My dog was awarded a daily prize on October 16,2009 but I never have received anything not one word from the company.
The Admin never respondes to me.
I get auto replies that they receive my Mail so I know they can get through to me, they just DO NOT.
I have asked anyone who got their prizes to contact me but not one single person has contacted me.
I think the whole thing is a scam to get email addresses and plant cookies on our hard drives.
Feel free to contact me.

Pffft where is the contest for the kitties?
I entered my girl in the contest. I hope it is not a scam. She is really cute and deserves to win! it’s not just me; lots of people think so!
I think it is legit. They are keeping a close eye on people who are cheating and have already disqualified about 15 dogs, and have stripped away fake votes that ppl have tried to use by creating fake IP addresses. They are on their game!
They say they’re eliminating cheaters, evidenced by the elimination of some dogs with thousands and thousands of votes, but how can one even seriously get the over 1200 votes that the week one winner had?
Assuming that people actually DID vote every day (people don’t – they forget or whatever), you’ve got almost 200 people to vote every day. I have 2,000 Twitter followers, and I can easily call 200 of them “friends”, and I didn’t even come close to 1200 votes. There still has to be some cheating going on.
What makes it extra fishy is that when you click on the winning dog’s profile, it says Sammy has 600 some votes, but in the video to announce the winner it says Sammy had over 1200 votes. Which is it? And they won’t answer my question when I ask the contest people about the discrepancy.
I like the contest idea and I want to win so I can help out a local rescue who really needs financial help, but it’s very frustrating to “play” when your chance to win seems minuscule unless you cheat discreetly.
Unfortunately this is not a contest for the cutest dog, but rather to determine which dog owner has the most friends. There are over 35,000 entries. Tell me one person that has the time or takes the effort to view 35,000 pictures prior to voting. Also the contest owners apparently re-enter each dog every week whether the owners request it or not. It is not a scam but it is not a fair contest either. Each week’s winner should be judged by neutral judges not the “general public”.
Just my honest opinion.
Looks like it was a scam. Midway through the competition and the site is down. I have been e-mail the e-mail from the competition and the company and have heard nothing. I will NEVER purchase anything from that company again. I encourage everyone to do the same.
Huh. Thanks, Tiffany. I thought that I was the only one who couldn’t get through…
Hope the site comes back. Maybe they’re doing maintenance work? Or maybe they’re having tech difficulties?
I’ll try them again, later.
Hi everyone,
I have done some researching around and the general feeling about this contest in the social media atmosphere and online is that it IS in fact a scam… I don’t have any hard information to back that up but that’s the general opinion I’ve been receiving from people who have entered their pets. Not to mention the site is ALWAYS down or not working correctly, and nearly everyone I know who entered mysteriously had enough votes to continue and get advanced to Round II.
Sounds like this might not be such a good one after all… I apologize for not letting you know sooner. It seemed legit at the time I got the notification…ever reminding me to do my full research before endorsing such a contest.
Thanks,
JL Smith
I am pretty confident that there is something wrong with the competition now. Day before yesterday before the site crashed I had went page by page looking for the top of number of votes. It was less than 200. Now the top number of votes is 6158!! I think it is a hoax.
Interesting reading. I’ve been wondering about contest myself. Left a comment on their blog the other day asking how any dog could have over 2,000 votes when my friends and I kept getting Out of Service or other ways of not being able to get through. It was removed! But in case it isn’t a scam, I do need the money. Sure wish I know. Cause if I knew it is a scam, I would put it right on JFF and Twitter. That’s where I met other dogs entered.
My computer is down, possibly dead, so I had a time finding this on a neighbor’s machine. Thanks for the heads up.

It is the company sponsoring the competition. I bet if enough people complain to the company instead of the site something will be done.
Has anyone actually SEEN the products this company claims to sell? Their address is a high-rise office/apartment building in Beverly Hills, not a factory for certain. “where to find” and “shop online” links on their product pages lead to “under construction” messages. A Google shopping search turns up none of these brands. All phone numbers associated with AAPB are unpublished, which is curious for a business entity.
This is at least the second contest they’ve run this year, and the company claims to have been in business about six years. Why go to all this trouble, then make the product difficult to find?
I have begun to suspect there actually is no product being produced, and that this contest is a subterfuge for collecting large amounts of personal information from people.
This afternoon I phoned the number shown on the web page for All American Pet Brands. I asked the lady who answered where I might find these pet food products they are touting. She told me that they have not started manufacturing yet, and “hope to get them going in a month or two.”
This company claims to have been in existence for several years, and there has apparently never been any “product.” I plan to check with the FDA or USDA (whoever controls pet foods) to see whether any formulations or test samples have been filed.
But this outfit is looking more shaky to me by the day. FWIW…
I read somewhere in the contest pages (or heard on one of their videos) that the product wasn’t yet made. Maybe it was in one of the “word from out sponsors” blogs. It sounded as if the contest was a way for them to get necessary funding; I wonder how that works?
I have a dog entered but we just don’t seem to be able to get votes in the thousands; we do have a loyal group of voters and reach nearly five hundred weekly but that won’t be enough to ever win.
I don’t think that they even tried to nail the cheaters until week four or so; so overall, the contest has been making it up as it goes along.
So many have poured so much into the contest and I know of one dog I cannot believe was fairly disqualified. I have to believe that someone voted against the dog in a manner that got him dqed. The contest doesn’t not have a way of keeping that from happening.
Hey I entered my dog in the competition for the reason I want to stop the animal cruelty and shut down those herrific puppy farms once and for please vote for my dog heres the link

That’s a really cute Aussie!
There are many things wrong with this contest:
1. agreed, it’s a how-many-friends-your-owner-has contest, not a cutest dog contest. it should be judged by official judges.
2. the dogs that win, never have more than 300ish votes on Friday, then Sunday when we see who won hte day prior, the winners have over 2000 votes. How does that happen/make sense?
3. how does the contest make money and where do they get the money for the gifts?? it doesn’t cost to register, there are no website advertisements, and there are no products to buy. i wonder if the winners are rigged, so they don’t actually have to shell out any money, but want to build a rep for themselves using this competition, for if/when they eventually come out with a product.
4. this is all speculation. that being said…vote for me!…can’t hurt!
