A testament to the importance of microchips for sure. But I agree with Rocky, why in the heck did it take 13 years for someone to scan the cat?

What a great story! the obvious question is just why it took 13 years for someone to scan the cat. I had my dog chipped and although it was never used to locate him ( he was never out of our sight for 15 years)

we just adopted a precious 4 year old Brusells Griffon last month and will have a chip placed in him next week.

This is one reason why I'm trying to get the county to institute an automatic scan for every animal going into the shelter. The idiot running it has a scanner (not a universal) but "doesn't have the time" to scan. He does, however, have time to euthanize. So I went over his head and it will be discussed at a county work session soon.
